"The Yosemite Valley", Albert Bierstadt

The universe was silence, then there were words and the words turned to music and the music became creation. Creation started from a fixed point in time and space and spread outward. On the very inner fringes of primordial creation there was born a constellation of Seven Stars. As time passed each was ruled by a Prince and a King bound them all. They evolved from the material to the spiritual. In the spiritual they sought out all creation, seeking to harmonize, to learn, to grow and to acquire understanding. Their threads of consciousness spread over the Universe as a closely woven yarn, making the vastness seem but small and yet infinitely rich. In their expansion they came upon a solar system of eleven planets. Their hearts and spirits fell upon the exceedingly beautiful and rich planet, third from the sun that we call Earth. They sensed its beauty and balance and searching deeper caught glimpses of dream state consciousness among an awakening simian race similar to their own in ages past..

"Twilight in the Wilderness", Frederick Edwin Church

Three High Princes sought travel to Earth to bring a message of Love and Wisdom from the planetary guardians of the Seven Stars. As if transported on a beam of light they came and encompassed Earth. They saw and felt the planet breathing and felt mother Earth's pride and fear of this simian offshoot that we know as ourselves. They flowed through man's dream time consciousness ever guiding and seeking to teach and to learn. As they felt mankind, an urge long repressed came into being. They longed as if by distant memory for the warmth of the planetary sun, to bathe in cool crystal water, to smell the deep fresh pine, to live in a sensate way, a way long since abandoned by their forefathers. They reasoned (or rationalized) among themselves, could not more good be done if they materialized in a simian form and taught this race more directly? Could they not empathize more truly with their students if they shared the material form with them? Their forefathers/Guardians forbade this. Yet their desire was too great. So one by one they descended to the planet and took physical form. These were not however ordinary beings, but beings of enormous psychic power. Material existence could be molded and changed at their will. Mankind was in many respects to them nothing more than a toy, a caged animal, a pet, a trifle. Yet having only recently descended they retained their nobility of purpose. Their goal was still service: to teach fledgling mankind the deepest mysteries of the universe, to guide him into a state of love and perfect wisdom. Indeed to prove to the Guardians that this state is possible in the long since abandoned material form. These Princes were rebels albeit altruistic. The chief among them was known by many names though the most common was Lucifer, Highest of the High Princes of the constellation of the Seven Stars.

The second and third in the decent are nameless but each ruled: the third was Prince of the Seventh Sun, the second was High Prince of the fifth Sun.

Mankind to these superconscious beings was but a sleeping child. To awaken them they directed the building of temples. Temples proportioned with celestial dimensions and powered by superfocused crystals. Men and women placed in the specially prepared rooms and guided by super conscious intervention experienced a terrible shifting of reality, as if a thousand Earthquakes compressed into one second over and over again.

In this state of supreme vulnerability mankind was slowly through his unconscious taught his true place in the Universe and the mysteries therein. Power was centralized in one temple, The Great Temple. Larger than any present or past structure and covered by a dome translucent in the center to allow the passage of light to the great crystal therein, a structure probably impossible to construct with today's engineering. The Great knowledge and science of Atlantis was kept safe within the Temple to keep it secure and free from outside meddling. The Planetary Princes were eternal and ruled with a council of ten humans. Mankind progressed slowly but surely. He colonized Mars and the planet now gone that lay between Earth and Mars. He built great cities and temples. His homes became things of beauty that blended into the natural landscape and yet inside were filled with shining wall paper, dim shimmering gray light and soft subtly changing music. He transported himself in the air via large brightly colored balloons and dirigibles. He mastered the power of the crystal and learned how to see beyond the physical plane. He became divided into classes based on aptitude. The most noble was the warrior class (Warriors of the Rainbow) others included: priests, scholars, artisans, etc. He built a great city around the great temple. The city was lined with canals for transportation and surrounded by shielding mountains. The land was filled with running brooks, streams, waterfalls and ever present rainbows. The weather was always temperate and disease was infrequent. In those days, the sun rose in the West and set in the East. This city was the closest to what mankind now calls Shangri-la and it was ATA/ the first/father land. Tribes and races throughout the planet knew of this land. ATA sent armies abroad, traded throughout the world and spread its culture far and near. The knowledge and wisdom that was Atlantis remained, however, still largely in the great temple. If the temple was destroyed so to would the bulk of this great celestial knowledge on Earth. All that would remain was a slender vine that slowly through the ages would die and wither, preserved in degraded form perhaps by a nameless few.

The council ruled many years and mankind enjoyed a proverbial golden age. But alas, strife developed within the council. Lucifer became restless and bored. The council became assiduous and watched over mankind in one matter particular, the purity and growth of the races - the elimination of the last vestiges of man's more apelike co-evolutionaries. The council felt itself obligated to guide man's evolution in ways that promoted greatness and true wisdom. To this end the great power of the temple was used to utterly destroy these "impure" races, to defeat the dinosaur race and to protect Atlantis from volcanic or other planetary disturbance. Great power was needed to keep the elements in check so that the great temple could remain standing and its mission continue.

Lucifer, restless, sought to divide mankind at first. He fostered wars to purify the human race and was not opposed by the Council in this, though his methods were questioned. Not content to leave mankind's physical evolution alone he sought to merge human and animal and create hybrid forms to do his material bidding. When Lucifer became intent on this last act the Council almost at once became split into the forces of Light and the Forces of Darkness. A great psychic war arose that resulted in a great stalemate. The forces of light were forbidden to destroy life. The forces of darkness, though powerful were too weak to destroy the forces of light. Eventually though the forces of Light had to act. For their very purpose: the spiritual evolution and growth of mankind was threatened by the development of unspeakable hybrids. Then they, the Forces of Light, did the unspeakable. Except for the remnants abroad, everything was destroyed, never to arise again.

his in brief is the story of Atlantis, retold for what lessons a now more mature mankind may derive as he struggles for his survival and understanding. Mankind must remember that the legend of Atlantean destruction could foreshadow his own destruction in the not to distant future. Let the splitting of the atomic nucleus and its dangers serve warning of greater potential dangers inherent in the irresponsible manipulation of the nucleus of the living cell- the genetic bedrock. What has taken billions of years to evolve must not be undone in a thousand human lifetimes- let alone one. The future is uncertain and the pursuit of pure knowledge need not and must not result in the blind and/or willful application of technology. Mankind must not become the instrument of Lucifer's revenge. If ever mankind should  fully "rediscover" the knowledge that was Atlantis, may he also come to understand its dangers and act accordingly.

"To the Orphics, the soul is of celestial origin and divine; man is a child of earth and starry heaven; his body of the earth, but his soul, as a late Orphic line expresses it, is 'rooted in the celestial element'. Each soul had lived in the society of Gods, and was in fact a God."

"This godly soul however sinned and ended up in a body. We are told by Aristotle that in the Orphic verses the soul was said to be carried to and fro by the winds, and drawn into the body by respiration. The cause of the soul's descent was sin, and its imprisonment in the body has a penitentiary purpose."

"...As soon as a soul got into the body, the doors of the prison-house close around her. The soul has entered upon what the Orphics call the 'circle' or 'wheel of generation', a long and weary circuit of birth and death."

"While present in the body, the soul is therefore a fallen angel who is doing penance for her sins and her ultimate aim is to be released from her chains and recover the inheritance she has lost."

"Thus Spake Zarathustra", by Friedrich Nietzsche, translated by Thomas Common:

Thou great star! What would be thy happiness if thou hadst not those for whom thou shinest!

For ten years hast thou climbed hither unto my cave: thou wouldst have wearied of thy light and of the journey, had it not been for me, mine eagle, and my serpent.

But we awaited thee every morning, took from thee thine overflow, and blessed thee for it.

Lo! I am weary of my wisdom, like the bee that hath gathered too much honey; I need hands outstretched to take it.

I would fain bestow and distribute, until the wise have once more become joyous in their folly, and the poor happy in their riches. Therefore must I descend into the deep: as thou doest in the evening, when thou goest behind the sea, and givest light also to the nether-world, thou exuberant star!

Like thee must I go down, as men say, to whom I shall descend. Bless me, then, thou tranquil eye, that canst behold even the greatest happiness without envy!

Bless the cup that is about to overflow, that the water may flow golden out of it, and carry everywhere the reflection of thy bliss! Lo! This cup is again going to empty itself, and Zarathustra is again going to be a man.

J.R.R. Tolkien's, "The Lord of the Rings"

Frodo stood awhile still lost in wonder. It seemed to him that he had stepped through a high window that looked on a vanished world. A light was upon it for which language had no name..In winter here no heart could mourn for summer or spring. No blemish or sickness or deformity could be seen in anything that grew upon the earth...Frodo felt he was in a timeless land that did not fade or change or fall into forgetfulness.

Frodo upon reaching Cerin Amroth and the land of Lothlórien

In this high place you may see the two powers that are opposed to another; and ever they strive now in thought, but whereas the light perceives the very heart of the darkness, its own secret has not been discovered. Not yet.

Haldir speaking to Frodo's group upon entering the land of Lothlórien

Here is the heart of Elvendom on earth and here my heart dwells ever, unless there be a light beyond the dark roads that we still must tread, you and I.

Aragorn speaking to Frodo as they approached the city of Galadrim, home of Celeborn and the Lady Galadriel.

There are Heavenly lands
Where streams placidly flow
Through enchanting meadows.

Lands where peace is abundant
And pain with despair never reigns
Shimmering Light ever present.

Toward the Heavenly lands
My spirit will soon soar
And soak in its eternal Light.

From "Ode to Eternal Hope," by Alexey Ilyushin Berardi

The Book of Enoch, Chapter 7:

1 It happened after the sons of men had multiplied in those days, that daughters were born to them, elegant and beautiful.

2 And when the angels, (3) the sons of heaven, beheld them, they became enamoured of them, saying to each other, Come, let us select for ourselves wives from the progeny of men, and let us beget children.

(3) An Aramaic text reads "Watchers" here (J.T. Milik, Aramaic Fragments of Qumran Cave 4 [Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1976], p. 167).

3 Then their leader Samyaza said to them; I fear that you may perhaps be indisposed to the performance of this enterprise;

4 And that I alone shall suffer for so grievous a crime.

5 But they answered him and said; We all swear;

6 And bind ourselves by mutual execrations, that we will not change our intention, but execute our projected undertaking.

7 Then they swore all together, and all bound themselves by mutual execrations. Their whole number was two hundred, who descended upon Ardis, (4) which is the top of mount Armon.

(4) Upon Ardis. Or, "in the days of Jared" (R.H. Charles, ed. and trans., The Book of Enoch [Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1893], p. 63).

8 That mountain therefore was called Armon, because they had sworn upon it, (5) and bound themselves by mutual execrations.

(5) Mt. Armon, or Mt. Hermon, derives its name from the Hebrew word herem, a curse (Charles, p. 63).

9 These are the names of their chiefs: Samyaza, who was their leader, Urakabarameel, Akibeel, Tamiel, Ramuel, Danel, Azkeel, Saraknyal, Asael, Armers, Batraal, Anane, Zavebe, Samsaveel, Ertael, Turel, Yomyael, Arazyal. These were the prefects of the two hundred angels, and the remainder were all with them.(6)

(6) The Aramaic texts preserve an earlier list of names of these Watchers: Semihazah; Artqoph; Ramtel; Kokabel; Ramel; Danieal; Zeqiel; Baraqel; Asael; Hermoni; Matarel; Ananel; Stawel; Samsiel; Sahriel; Tummiel; Turiel; Yomiel; Yhaddiel (Milik, p. 151).

10 Then they took wives, each choosing for himself; whom they began to approach, and with whom they cohabited; teaching them sorcery, incantations, and the dividing of roots and trees.

11 And the women conceiving brought forth giants, (7)

(7) The Greek texts vary considerably from the Ethiopic text here. One Greek manuscript adds to this section, "And they [the women] bore to them [the Watchers] three races–first, the great giants. The giants brought forth [some say "slew"] the Naphelim, and the Naphelim brought forth [or "slew"] the Elioud. And they existed, increasing in power according to their greatness." See the account in the Book of Jubilees.

12 Whose stature was each three hundred cubits. These devoured all which the labor of men produced; until it became impossible to feed them.

13 When they turned themselves against men, in order to devour them;

14 And began to injure birds, beasts, reptiles, and fishes, to eat their flesh one after another, (8) and to drink their blood.

(8) Their flesh one after another. Or, "one another’s flesh." R.H. Charles notes that this phrase may refer to the destruction of one class of giants by another (Charles, p. 65).

15 Then the earth reproved the unrighteous.
