When despair grows in me
and I wake in the middle of the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting for their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
-
The Peace of Wild Things by Wendell Berry
I believe a leaf of grass is no less than the journey- a work of the
stars, And the pismire is equally perfect, and a grain of sand, and
the egg of the wren, And the tree-toad is a chef-d'oeuvre for the
highest, And the running blackberry would adorn the parlors of
heaven, And the narrowest hinge in my hand puts to scorn all
machinery, And the cow crunching with depress'd head surpasses any
statue, And a mouse is a miracle enough to stagger sextillions of
infidels. -Walt Whitman, "Song of Myself,"
Leaves of Grass.
Remember the Divine Mother-
all creation are her children- we are all one family. The Divine
Mother can heal all. The Earth is a manifestation of the Divine
Mother- She will heal.
This world is a
reflection of the dreaming world. All that is beautiful- the
mountains, the trees, the flowers- plants of infinite multitude, the
flowing river, the animals- are written in the Akasha Records -
manifested in light across the heavens- eternal. Take the time while
here to learn the songs of nature and experience the joy in all
creation. That joy is your birthright.
The hike we spoke
about was a pivotal event in my life. Its timing was undoubtedly
synchronous with other events in my life and my readiness to
experience and understand certain truths. I cannot reveal all of
what took place. I will say this. I was able to experience a
complete oneness with everything around me. This experience was
visceral and was one of power and awareness. There are certain
places I have gone to in life that I actually never leave. This is
one of them. This place helped reawaken me to the truth of who I am
and more importantly to the truth of what is- the very nature of
“reality” and the boundless love that enfolds us.
There were many parts of the hike, that I simply did not want to
leave. You may have observed me singing on the hike. I wanted to
share with you why. Everything in nature has a song. There seems to
be nothing more pleasurable to the spirits in nature than song. By
singing- one awakens the spirits- and resonates even more deeply
with the love that is all around. Earlier, when we stopped for
lunch, it was amazing to see the spirits that were around us-
spinning- like the whirling Dervish dances of the Sufi-
dazzlingly color and effusive joy. I felt as if I was in heaven-
whatever heaven is.

beauty is before me, beauty is behind me - above and below me."-
